Plug-flow anaerobic digestion with multi-position sensors: The value of gradient measurement for process monitoring
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the present study, a tailor-made plug-flow reactor with 3D-printed parts and multi-position monitoring of pH-value, conductivity ORP at inlet, center outlet part is introduced applied in anaerobic digestion order to investigate whether i) formation gradients can be detected, ii) ideal single or multiple spots for location sensors during an acidification process identified, iii) spatial gradient acquisition allows indirect performance measures, e.g. accumulation short-chain carboxylic acids. During full dark fermentation maize grass silage, liquid phase revealed that local inlet center, pH-value are relevant gain information performance, while between early detection disturbances.

Methanogenic fermentation involves a natural ecosystem that can be used for waste water treatment. This anaerobic process can have two locally stable steady-states and an unstable one making the process hard to handle. The aim of this work is to propose analytical criteria to detect hazardous working modes, namely situations where the system evolves towards the acidification of the plant. We fi...

متن کاملSensors for Anaerobic Digestion: An overview
New and existing technologies for the monitoring of anaerobic digestion processes are presented. Emphasis is given to the way these sensors can provide insight in the ongoing (bio-)processes. Attention is drawn to a number of practical problems associated with the use of sophisticated sensors in the harsh (dirty) conditions of wastewater treatment processes. The use of autocalibration and built...
متن کاملANAEROBIC DIGESTION Monitoring and Control
Anaerobic digestion is an old biological wastewater treatment process, having first been studied more than a century ago. It is a multistep process in which organic matter is degraded into a gas mixture of methane and carbon dioxide by microorganisms. It thus reduces the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of the influent and produces valuable energy (methane). The biological scheme involves several m...
